Sheldon, that actually looks pretty good... I like rustic dishes like
this. I'm not a fan of cats on the counters or tables where food is
prepared or served... but hey, it's your house, your rules.

Between the talk about Rice and Chicken and Paella, we have been kicking
around making a dish. We have smoked sausage, shrimp, chicken rice,
maybe some vermicelli, chicken stock, onions, etc. I'm not sure about
adding some chopped tomatoes or maybe some beans...... and haven't
decided how spicy I want it to be.

Some afternoon when we have time we'll kick it around the kitchen a few
    times and see what happens.

That looks truly good! I've never tried serving chicken with beans and
    rice. Just with rice.

That's Penzey's adobo seasoning on the top, isn't it? We get it: You like

I taught mine to stay off the kitchen counters and stove using
upside-down moustraps (so kitties only get startled and not hurt!) but
it looks to me like his kitties are sprawled on his bed, not the
    counters???

You too!!! I have two kittehs, both shelter cats, and the youngest
(female) is Maine Coon (mostly I figure)
and she has that undercoat that, if I'm not constantly after it, gets
EVERYWHERE. I've never had a cat
that "puffed" hair as she walks before, but this one does. It's so
fine it drifts in the air and lands everywhere.

And, anyone who thinks they've "trained" the cats not to be on the
counters or tables is kidding themselves.
They get up there when you aren't around to see...trust me.

If you are going to have cats indoors you learn to deal with it.

Cats are cleaner than people... they groom themselves constantly, and
each other... how many of yoose can lick yourselves all over, or have
    someone who will?

Seriously, the cats do NOT get up on the counters or stove top. They do,
however, get on the table. I've not been able to break them of that so
I just change the table cover frequently...
