Angry Man Killed Trying To Cut Power Line
Too bad the below person was not Sheldumb. ns
NY Resident Used Industrial Saw
POND EDDY, N.Y. -- New York authorities say a man was electrocuted
Saturday when he tried to cut through a downed power line with an
industrial saw.
Authorities say the 64-year-old Pond Eddy man was drunk and ignored
repeated orders to stay away from the cable.
The accident happened in the presence of firefighters who had been
guarding the fallen line. The Sullivan County public safety commissioner
says officials chased the man away from the line several times before he
fetched the saw from his house.
Authorities say the line fell in a storm Friday and had been down for
about seven hours while utility crews tended to damage elsewhere.

I have a hard time seeing this as an "accident".

I have a hard time seeing it as his outpouring of grief over Jelena
Jankovic's poor showing at Wimbledon. What? Nobody said it had anything to
do with Jelena Jankovic? Well, nobody said it was an accident, either.

I suspect they will look at his unlying medical condition. Could it be
he was termial and thought a good way to leave the family some cash,
an accident, yes that's it, and in front of lots of witnesses.

Why can't these idiots just take some tablets and lay on a bed somewhere

Firefighters go through enough **** without some wanker like this

Quoting the article:
"The accident happened in the presence of firefighters who had been
guarding the fallen line."
IMO it wasn't an accident -- it was the result of egregious
****headedness.

Clearly, it was negligence on the part of the firefighters
who were already aware of this man and his unsafe activities
with regard to the power line. Knowing that, and having
taken responsibility for keeping the public away from the
power line, they failed in their duty. I'd find in favor
of plaintiff for 2.5 gazillion dollars. :-)

But that has never stopped lawyers looking to transfer wealth to
themselves from swooping in to "protect the family"..

Clearly??
What were the firefighters supposed to do to keep him away? I am not
sure what they mean by an "industrial saw", but that implies it was
powered, and since the line was down I am assuming it would be gas
powered. That would be quite a weapon to use against unarmed
firefighters. I suppose they could have tried lethal fore to stop him
from getting himself killed. I would suggest that repeated warnings
would fulfil their responsibility. I suppose that if the family can
find a lawyer sleazy enough to try to take the case to court the
firefighters could counter sue against the estate for the trauma the
suffered from witnessing Darwinin theory in person.

I'm glad you put a smiley at the end. How many times did someone
have to tell the guy to stay away from the line before the message
was clear? He was drunk and angry that his electricity was off,
and he was gonna show "them", by cripes. Natural selection.

I will bet that the emergency response team of the local law firm that
has their pictures on every city bus telling people they will "help
them" will have a different opinion.
