Andy's Tuna Pesto
Andy posted this a while back.
---------------8<-----------------
Serves: 2
1 can TJs low-sodium Tuna fish
4 tbls TJs pesto sauce
2 slices TJs sharp cheddar
4 slices TJs whole wheat/whole grain bread
Mix up the first two. Toast bread. Drop cheese on to two sandwiches. Apply
tuna mix to bread, squish top on and eat!
-------------->8------------------
I finally remembered the pesto yesterday while I was at the store.
I haven't made the sandwich, yet, because I just remembered the experiment
while eating breakfast. But I did mix the tuna and sauce for later,
because I wanted a taste. Interesting combination; quite nice. I'm not
used to using pesto sauce; to me, pesto is a flavor (like jalapeņo, or
garlic and herb) of jack cheese. That's why I could never remember it at
the store. And I was never near my grocery list when I'd think of it.
I messed up and bought grated cheddar rather than sliced, though. I
wonder if I should just mix that with the tuna/sauce. It would make a
less crumbly sandwich that way. Or I could melt the cheese on a slice of
the bread.
Thanks, Andy. I'll sandwich this afternoon, one way or another. As for
now, I'm fighting off a strong urge to do so now, even though I just had
breakfast.

My milage would stop before it started. It sounds perfectly disgusting
(although I like both tuna and pesto). Please, god, not together!

Okay. Something else to ponder, which I kluged together decades ago....
Try making a salade nicoise but incorporate a bit of pesto into the
dressing. Now I WANT some.... Hmmm. Maybe I can put together a
cheating version....

It does sound pretty bad, but it is actually very good. Okay, YOU try
it in a chicken salad. Does that sound better?

I have used pesto iwth various chicken preparations, although not chicken
salad (because I never thought of it). I just can't envision the
combinationn of tuna (or any other fish) with pesto, and I'm not going to
waste food to find out. :-)

Yeah, that was my original impression, but I decided to try it anyway. I
might do it again, when I get tired of my usual TS.

Especially when there's more Tuna than pesto.
This recipe was definitely invented by a drunk.

Make that ... "More pesto than tuna". Pesto is not supposed to be
used in those proportions.
