Thanks for the heads-up. I'll keep my eyes peeled when I go tomorrow.
Last week, Aldi's had a gallon of peanut oil for $9.99 (IIRC). I just
might have to get some of those cashews, too <G>.

That is why my wife and I do not shop together. We are both impulse
shoppers and end up spending a *lot* more. Since I do most of the
shopping I know what we need and I try not to get carried away.

Yeah, we are going to Restaurant Depot (the wholesale place) this week to
get stuff for our gin mill's xmas party, it always ends up being a pretty
expensive visit even at their great prices...

I will look at peanut oil at RD to see how the price compares, thanx for the
"reminder"...

Aldi's apparently has good stollen and other German holiday stuff this time
of year, I may have to check them out too...

And like you guys, I can't resist the blandishments of a cheap turkey...

I think what happens is we feed off each others impulses. One will
see something and say: "Oh,,, we haven't had that in awhile." And
then the other will say "well then let's get it." But I think a
couple could have worse problems. <G>

They've got lots of holiday stuff. All cheap. We got some cream
filled wafer roll-up thingies that are very good. I've never liked
Aldi's but I'm starting to like going there for certain things. Their
corn syrup is a third of the price of Karo. I use a lot of that for
caramel corn.

Be careful. . .I've seen large (turkey fryer size) jugs of oil marked
'peanut' oil and the deal was that it was 25% peanut oil and the rest was
some other oil. That is what I have seen at the price you are quoting.

It was $9.99 in the November 15th "deals and specials." They must be
closing them out for the new promo. And it's 100% peanut oil.

and then somewhere in microtype it is noted that it is a blend of some
other oil and peanut oil.

You can get it at that price at Westlake Hardware in the barbecue/fryer area
year round for 29 bucks, for a 3 gallon container.

It's a little cheaper at restaurant supply, about 31 bucks for 35 pounds.

I didn't pay the price on the link. As I said, I paid $4.49. I got a
good deal and as was just trying to help if someone needed to stock up
for the holidays.

Some of those boxes were called "deep frying oil." That's not what
this was.
