Aero Garden going strong
In spite of me it's still growing strong.
I inadvertently killed the chives but I'll replace it with something.

I thought chives were indestructible! :-) Your garden is looking good. I
found one in a local store for 179 I think, so I am really looking forward
to these updates.

Re: Aero Garden going strong
I really like my aero garden. Got it for Christmas 2007. Last spring my
herbs were about done and the instructions said to throw every thing away
and replant. Well, my 2 basils pleaded not to be euthanized and I pulled
them out roots and all and I planted them outside. They took off and were
twice the size they had ever been. I harvested basil all through the summer
from those two plants that had stopped growing indoors.

I'm sure they are. I accidentally got them caught up in the cloth I
was using to dust around the pods, didn't notice in time and into the
trash. I think I should stop dusting unitl they are all fully grown.

More basil would be my vote. :-) I can never have enough of it!
How did you kill chives??? I have a patch that's been going for 20
years out front. They thrive on neglect.
They are garlic chives.
It's too late for me to save seeds for this winter but if you'd like
some next fall, e-mail me and I'll store a sticky on my desktop to
remind me to send you some.

I had a spurt of domesticity and was dusting. Somehow the little
seedlings got caught up in the dusting cloth and ended up in the trash
long before I caught it.

They produce a plethora of seeds every late fall.

Stores like Home Depot, Walmart, Lowe's, and any nursery will have
packages of seed for $1 to $2 that will contain hundreds of seeds.

I don't have an Aerogarden (yet).
Do you just buy whatever seeds you want, and shove them into the
sponge that comes with the original seed pods?

Our little one is growing up :-) Do they have any parsley pods? Looks like
you're growing basil, thyme, dill and chives?

I have no idea. I plant them in starting soil, transplant into larger
pots and plant outside. In 2006 I bought a package of Granex onion
seeds. I have used over 260 so far and still have about 100 left. I
paid $.97 for the package at Walmart. The packages at Lowe's are
$1.25 this year.
I looked at the Aerogarden and as soon as I saw that you had to buy
the seeds and pots from them I decided no thank you. If you are
satisfied with the varieties they offer and the prices, have at it. On
the other hand I have about a 1/2 acre garden and a 12' x 8'
greenhouse.

It's sure coming along all right. I'm sure they have parsley pods. I'm
going to order the gardening kit that allows you to use your own seeds
with their pods and planting material.

Yeah, it's hard to imagine how many hundreds of pounds of food I've
grown from a few dollars worth of Johnny Seeds.
Twenty bucks for some seed pods, high tech or not, is kind of hard to
swallow.
Doing some Googling:
"I purchased cherry tomato seeds, hot pepper seeds, use rock wool for
a seed base, and kitchen plastic wrap for pod covers (less than $10
spent). Cleaned out the pump real well (use vinegar to dissolve hard
water deposits). I use a dilute (half the recommended concentration,
for now) Miracle-grow solution for fertilizer."
That's pushing me closer to buying one.
$150 for the Pro 100 at Amazon, and I have $50 in gift certs.
