How can you screw up a 7 layer dip? I mean...the ingredients are pretty
finite. Put it in a clear bowl and layer it evenly?

Any homemade 7-layer dip is better than anything the supermarkets have to
offer.

Re: 7 layer dip
I dont like refried beans. I use ground sirloin browned, add jar of
drained chunky salsa to it and use that as my bottom layer. Before Kraft
Company destroyed the only damned good dips on the market, I would then
add the Kraft Jalopeno Dip which was a peach color as the next layer.
Then a chunky guacamole dip green layer. Chopped tomatoes red layer. My
top layer I would use a flavored white feta cheese or sometimes an extra
sharp cheddar cheese. Very good for Christmas potlucks when people are
sick of sugar.

It's White trash slop, so I'm surprised you don't like it.

I must be living the life of a hermit as I've never heard of 'flavored
white feta.' Feta IS white/off white and has a distinct flavor on
it's on that needs no enhancing with some sort of artificial addition.
"White trash slop." Sounds like it with her combinations.

I like Feta. I like bean dip. I like nachos. I don't like 7 layer dip
because I don't like sour cream and gaucamole.

I have seen it flavored but I can't remember with what. Maybe garlic or
basil or tomato?

Ok, then I AM living the life a hermit, I guess. Haven't seen it and
we have a very large Greek community here.

Me too--- but we should get out more-
http://www.nikosfeta.com/products.php
I'll stick with mine plain but 'Tomato Basil", 'Mediterranea', and
'Peppercorn' are all possibilities from those folks.

Maybe she means flavored tofu. I don't like feh-ta cheeze, I think of
it as tofu gone bad. Whenever a Greek salad accompanies a meal I tell
them to hold the feh-ta and add extra olives.

I'll take the feta cheese from your salad! I love it's pungent taste
and I'd like to try those varieties that Jim posted as well (http://
www.nikosfeta.com/products.php). It would be hard to beat 'plain'
feta but I'm game.

It's that crumbly texture I don't like.

Re: 7 layer dip
cant remember the brand name but they sell feta "crumbles" in "flavors"
like peppercorn, black olive, tomatoe, basil, garlic etc. I love feta
cheese, but many turn their nose up at it :-)

I love it too but only the plain. I accidentally picked up a flavored once.
Not so good.

Yeah but, that's already been eaten and being recycled.
