Default Do Women make better cooks???

I am just wondering. No matter how hard I try, I can never make dishes as delicious as my sisters'. It seems that they have an advantage when it comes to cooking.
What do you guys think? Do women generally make better cooks???

I personally don't believe that women make better cooks, if you look at who the top chefs in the world are, you will see men top the list. Men also host most syndicated cooking shows, although I am not sure that it was their qualifications or their gender that got them the job. Most viewers of cooking shows are women.

I don't think gender has anything to do with cooking ability, I know some great chefs who are men and some great chefs who are women.

I don't think that gender has anything to do with it. I think that cooking has a lot to do with natural talent. I also think that it has a lot to do with people wanting to learn and to be creative with cooking and in their kitchen.

I myself cook delicious dishes but when my husband cooks. Oh well, Its so delicious I think its better than mine. They said that men are better cook than women. Thats why we have a lot of men chefs out there.

I don't really think so. Majority of the chefs are men as I have observed. Maybe it's just coincidence that your sister is a great cook.

well, nope. Of course not. Many top chefs are men. Women are good for their own family kitchen but men are good for the professional kitchen.

There is no sexiest here just want to express what I think.

Naaaaahhhh! My hubby is a good cook; I do the hard and/or weird and different stuff.
The only difference between us is that I check the batteries in the smoke alarms when he cooks.
    Gotta make sure, you know....

Ablaye, when you were growing up were you expected to help with the cooking as much as your sister was? Often parents will assign chores based on gender expectations (the boys mow the lawn and take out the trash because they're supposed to be strong, the girls cook and clean because it's considered women's work), when really all kids need to learn both roles in preparation for fending for themselves. If your sister helped with the cooking a lot more than you did as a child, she's probably got a good head start on her cooking skills.

Seeing as my mother and full-blooded German gramma does most my cooking I'd have to say YES! Without women, us men would starve to death LOL

I don't know. I think women like to cook to nurture, but I find the men that are good cooks are enjoy cooking do it more for showing off.
I guess when i pictures women cooking it's typically a mom cooking a quick dinner for the family so the kids can have time to finish their homework and go to bed early. While when i picture guys cook, they are trying to impress a date of friends....usually more social events
Regardless good food is good food

Women use to have more talent in the kitchen than men - when the majority didn't have jobs and were housewives, had more experience etc... But with more women working on todays day, more men are cooking, gaining experience, experiment etc...

    I think it's about equal.

I am female and would say no.

I know my mom cooks well because of practice. She's been doing it for so many yrs

Same with my mother in law and grandma

The top chefs are still men and I note in the top chef cooking show that the males just do so much better under pressure when it comes to perfecting their meals......dunno why

I am a Female and I would also say yes and no.

At home I would say that women are much better where they can explore and create and there is no pressure or time constraints.
However, in a hospitality kitchen, men make much better cooks because they are (and please don't anyone take offence to this) more emotionally stable when it comes to high pressure situations and are less prone to taking this personally. They are also more methodical which is something you need in a kitchen.

I know some amazing female chefs, but if I was staffing my own restaurant, it would take a bit of convincing for me to employ them.

I don't think gender matters. Some people can do it and some can't. Me? Am a female and I wouldn't feed what I make to my dog. lol

Cooking isn't gender-specific. I think women can do as well as men can.

No I dont think so. You just have to try harder at it. Or pick something you might be good at desserts, appetizers maybe.
