That's not a good practice then. Inadequate fluid in your body will cause health troubles, one of which is urinary tract infection. Drinking at least 8 glasses a day is still the best advice!

I don't most of the time either. Yes, it's a bad habit, but when I work out I can't get enough of it. (duh) Lately though, i've picked up a few more bottles of water during the day. Yay for me.

Not enough daily water isn't good, but drinking too much water can and will kill you. Literally!!

It has happened to people who excessively endulge in this practice.

In the summer on torridly hot days, I get an insatiable thirst for water. Have to be careful though, not to drink too much.

Hi! In my opinion, you should drink 8 glasses a day because it will help you a lot. I have a friend who do not love to drink water as a result she got a kidney failure. So, you need to work that out.

Kidney failure from not drinking enough water?!

First time hearing about that. I'm aware that when you drink water, that it's supposed to help flush the kidneys, but I never knew that if you didn't drink enough that it would ever lead to kidney failure!

Hey Big Daddy's House! I am from Cookingforums.net too. LOL!

I think Kidney failure due to not drinking enough water is a bit extreme, but I suppose it could happen. But as long as you are drinking at least 1 quart or more every day and not over drinking carbinated drinks or alcohol, then you should be fine. Unless you have a genetic reason to be more careful. I don't see a problem.

Water drinking contests are never a good idea. I guess I'm not the only one who heard about that lady. Woman in water-drinking contest dies - Life- msnbc.com

I used to drink a lot of water when I went to ballet intensives; carried a big old gallon around with be wherever I went. The more you sweat the more you need to drink.

Because I think when you sweat, your body is giving up quite a bit up moisture, fluids and salt, which could ultimately lead to dehydration.

Water and other fluids help put back some of that hydration that you've lost while sweating, back into your body to balance out the system and return things to normal again.

Add in the humidity facture that come with hot summer days which drives up the heat and making it feel ten times hotter, and it make you feel as though you are in a pressure cooker!!

The best relief is to drink some cold water, get IN some cool water, or get in the shade or in an air conditioned place. The sweltering stops and your body's normal temp is restored once more.

    Hey, GoodCook!

    Nice to see you here!

I can't have too much liquid on account I was diagnosed with CHF almost 3 years ago, and almost died. Twice!!

Fluid had backed up into the lungs, causing snortness-of-breath attacks. I was deathly afraid to lie down because I thought that I might die!

I have to stay out of the scorching heat of summer anyway because people with a heart condition, children and the elderly are also vunerable.

And I definitely won't drink as much water as that lady did!!
