What is chicken/beef stock really?
I was wondering this the other day...what exactly is chicken stock? I mean, given the name, you would think there's a chicken involved, but I have a feeling there isn't. Is the origin of chicken stock the juice that remained from cooking a chicken? What is the "chicken flavor" now?

Yes chicken stock is a man made product to mimic the chicken broth that is left after cooking a chicken, although some people actually use the broth to mix the stock with. Generally speaking stock always came in a powdered form and one teaspoon or 5g would be added to a cup of boiling water. The chicken flavour is almost always "artificial" now, but some stocks contain chicken fat (powdered) and almost all contain MSG (flavour enhancer 621)
