Soft Raisin Cookies

Another one of Grandma's great recipes, these cookies are best a day or two later.
Other: Ingredients:
Time:
1/2 hour
Difficulty:
Easy
Serving Size:
Yield 2 dozen cookies
1 cup raisins
1/2 cup water
3/4 cup white sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup butter
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
Preparation:
Preheat oven to 375 F.
In a small saucepan, bring raisins and water to a boil and simmer, uncovered for 5 minutes, then set aside.
Instructions:
Cream sugar and butter and beat in eggs and vanilla until mixture is fluffy. Stir in raisins.
Sift together flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and nutmeg and stir into creamed mixture.
Drop heaping tablespoons of dough 2" apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 375 F. for 12 minutes or until lightly browned.
Cool on wire racks. Cookies will become soft when stored in tightly covered container.
