Wow, you must do a lot of cooking/baking. I don't think I have room in my kitchen for a big stand mixer.
Ok, who has a stand mixer?
I own three - two K'Aid stand mixers and an Electrux Assistant DLX-2000.![]()

Hi, big daddy you have a lot of stand mixer.. I only have one but it's enough for me.
Hi, Jackie & Cez!
Yes, at times, I like to cook a lot.
But I mainly like the variety of being able to choose from which stand mixer I'd like to use for a specific recipe / task.
The smallest and oldest one is the 4.5-qt K-45SS which I've had for close to 23 years. It still works like new.
Then there's the 5-qt K-5SS which is slightly larger, and then the Big Daddy of them all is the Electrlux Assistant DLX-2000, which has a very heavy / heavy duty thick-guage 8-qt stainless steel bowl that can accommodate bread dough recipes having up to 5lbs of flour.

I just got one from Target.
I really couldn't afford the $200 ones and didn't want my husband to fork out some much....maybe later on
I use it for baking cakes and cookies.....well my husband is the sweet tooth.
I've been using the K-45SS lately because I've been baking cookies, cakes, muffins and quick breads.

I have my grandmother's old stand mixer, mainly out of nostalgia. I used it once, but I've never really had counter space enough to accommodate both it and the rest of my recipe ingredientsIt works pretty well, but I prefer my little hand mixer that I can pull out of my drawer, use, rinse, and toss back without any fuss.
I have a rebuilt K'Aid use all the time mostly to make mashed potatoes but used it today to mix some chocolate chip cookies up.
Has anyone been able to see/try out the new Kenwood mixer? I think it might only be available in the UK. Apparently it will actually cook your food for you while it slices and dices. I'm curious, even though it's not something I'd want for myself![]()
Just got my KA Artisan 5 qt. It is great. I also have a smaller Hamilton Beach mixer that works well with batters but thick heavy doughs bog it down.
i don't have a stand though, is it handy or necessity for great cooking?
Both of them.
