    Default slow cooker

Hi everyone. I'm going to buy a slow cooker this weekend. Can you give me some suggestions please? What brand do you guys own? Do you like it? I'll be cooking for any where from 2 of us to about 5 or 6 at times. Should I buy one small one and later a large one. I have been reading some product reviews on Amazon and some brands seem better than others. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have had several slow cookers but since I got my Dutch oven its about all I use. I have a 3 qt and a 6.5 qt enamal coated cast iron by lodge. I start them on the stove top and then move to a oven set at the appropriate temp. Its pretty much set and forget like a slow cooker you just use the oven and get even heating all the way around with the cast iron.

    Hi
I've had two different brands ... The first was a Kambrook (3.5 litre) which cost me $35 from Retravision on sale and the one I have now is a brand I've never heard of - Cascade. I only got the Cascade one because it was the biggest one I'd seen (8 litre) and was really cheap - only $45...So both are too good ...Choose as your requirements ...
    Good luck ...

    Default Rival

We've had a Rival Crockpot for 6 years now. It's been great. I love it. It came with a booklet of recipes. We've only used a few of them, but some have become favorites. As far as size, I'd just get a bigger one rather than having 2.

I've always had Rival Crockpots and they've lasted over the long haul. A 2.5 quart pot is good for side dishes or dinner for 2. A 4+ quart Crockpot is great for a crowd. Just and aside, I've read that you get the best cooking results if the pot is half full or more. It seems to be true from my experience.
