Default How can you clean the stainless steel?

I have a stainless steel, Russell Hobs toaster and it's covered in finger prints and other stains. I tried to use a sponge and some water to clean it but nothing really happened?! Someone said that you can use methylated spirits to clean stainless steel, but I'm a bit scared that it will ruin my toaster. How do you clean your stainless steel equipment?

I use Weiman stainless steel cleaner for fingerprints and water marks. However, for grease or baked on stains, I use the foaming oven cleaner. I have a stainless steel cooktop and it gets stains around the burners. I use oven cleaner and let it sit for about 20 minutes. It wipes right off.

Stainless steel needs to be cleaned to look its best and to prevent corrosion. Oxygen from the atmosphere combines with the chromium in the stainless steel to form a passive chromium oxide film that protects the object from further corrosion.

I use to make my sparkling stainless steel vessels or pan by cleaning with soda powder and lemon or vinegar juice. Smirch drops of vinegar with soda leave it for 5 to ten minutes. Then you can extirpate with scrubbing on it. Stain gets vanish within a minute. You can see the sparkles into your vessels. Moreover, before doing all these leave stained vessel by pouring water for half an hour. Then pour down that dirty water then go for procedure given above by applying vinegar on it.
