Hi. I'm new to the site and looking for advice on bread machines. Is it necessary to have one to bake good bread? Do they even bake good bread or can you do better in a regular, convection, or brick oven? I'm sort of an appliance addict, so I've stopped myself from buying one several times, but now, wanting to get into bread baking, I wonder...Do I REALLY need one, or is bread better from the oven? Thanks!![]()

Use oven to bake bread is really a waste of material. You need to preheat your over for about 10 minutes. If you just bake two piece of bread that is too luxury. Plus bread machine is more fast than oven. If you bake bread every morning before work then I recommend bread machine.
I bought a bread machine at a yard sale and I use it to do the kneading and rising because I have tendonitis. I love shaping my rolls and loaves by hand. Then bake my loaves and rolls in the oven (would love a brick oven though!) Here's a pic of some honey wheat rolls I make often.
