Anybody have any experience with the Wall Street Journal Wine Club?
Just wondering if it was positive or negative?

Just my opinion but you can find better wines on your own.

Actually WSJ Wines are a bit more than a "club". Yes, they've got the
Discovery Club which operates like most clubs, sending you a bottle or
two or three every month, but they also are an excellent source for a
widely priced selection of generally limited production wines.

I've been buying a case or two a month from them for over a year now
starting with one of their promotional mixed cases advertized in the
WSJ. I get a mailing periodically with some recent offerings and over
time have found a lot of excellent wines at low prices, typically from
$120-200/case. I've had PNs, malbecs, zins, shiraz/syrah, Chianti,
Barolo, a range of international whites, a stunning collection of 2005
Bordeaux from small Chateaus and in short never been disappointed in
any of them.

They've got an extensive online store although not all-encompassing,
for example I couldn't find any Beaujolais or Alsace wines in their
stock.

I'm living in a small town in the heartland, about an hour from major
wine outlets so I don't have the advantage of a wide selection locally
nor a knowledgeable merchant to guide me, so I'm usually admiring
colorful, artsy labels as a basis for finding new wines. Places like
the WSJ Wines operation do the discovery for me and I benefit.

Give them a try. You can't go wrong with one of their intro case
offerings and there is no "club" obligation.
