Betsy got back yesterday, after an early flight she was a bit too
tired to cook, so I picked up salad on way home, and later we picked
up a pizza. I opened the 2005 Felsina Chianti Classico. Good acids,
some tannin. Spicy, a little dried cherry and black cherry, a touch of
earth. Not as long a finish as the '04 or '01 (to name a couple recent
favorites from Felsina), but still a decent mid-bodied Chianti. With
the 06s arriving no need to look for more of this, but if on closeout
or a restaurant list I'd consider. B
Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent
wine, B a good wine, C mediocre. Anything below C means I wouldn't
drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no
promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.*
