[TN] '66 Calon-Segur
Tonight was the last night of my mother's stay with us. For a goodbye
supper I grilled a butterflied leg of lamb, made rice pilaf and opened a
bottle of:
1966 Ch. Calon-Segur
fill: low neck
color: brick throughout
nose: cedar, a hint of VA, plummy fruit
palate: suave mouthfeel, medium body, firm acidity, long finish
Opened in part to see how my mother, who finds most red wine too tannic
and full-bodied would react to a fully mature claret. The answer is
that she loved it. The match with the lamb didn't hurt one bit, either
as it complemented the wine beautifully. Virtually no sediment in this
bottle (just a trace in the last glass) but a very nice showing for this
45-year old wine.
