[TN] '09 Pepiere red
Last night, just returned from a brief outing to the Florida Keys, we
settled on a takeout roast chicken for dinner. With that, Jean opened a
bottle of:
2009 Domaine de la Pepiere Cuvée Granit (VdP de Loire-Atlantique)
nose: bright red fruit, juicy, minerality
palate: light body, bright acidity, slightly tannic, red fruit
Our first encounter with the red wine made at Domaine de la Pepiere by
Marc Ollivier. This wine is majority Cab Franc with some Côt (Malbec)
and Merlot thrown in and most likely vinified with carbonic maceration
to give it a Gamay-like freshness and brightness. Altogether fun but
probably for near-term consumption. About $12 retail.

thanks,. Any idea if this is a new VdP? I've had a couple of Pepiere
reds (La Pepie, Cuvee Cabernet, etc) and think they were VDP du Jardin
de France.

As I understand it, Dale, it's just a name change. What was VdPdJdF is
now VdPdL-A. Here's a bit from Wine-Searcher about it:

(Note the typo in my initial note; sorry!)
