How Can We Avoid Being Drunk?
Alcohol plays an important role in building relationship. For example,
people from eastern countries such as China and Japan, like to do
business at tables. Western people tend to give hosts wine as a present
when they are invited to dinner. Doctors say that drinking too much is
harmful to our health. Then how can we avoid being drunk? Here are some
tips.
First of all, we must eat something before drinking. When the stomach is
empty, the absorption of alcohol will speed up. In other words, it is
much easier for us to be drunk when we drink with an empty stomach.
Therefore, we have to eat some fatty food, such as fat meat, before
drinking. Or we could drink some milk. In this way, the fat that is
difficult to be digested could protect our stomach from being hurt. And
we are not easy to be drunk. If we cannot find food to eat, we can
choose to have some honey or drink some sweet water half an hour before
we drink. Salty water is also helpful.
Most importantly, we should follow some principles during drinking.
Firstly, do not drink cold water or lemonade at the same time.
Carbonated drinks such as soda water and cola are not advised, too. Such
drinks would promote the human body to absorb more alcohol. Secondly, we
ought to drink slowly. In less than five minutes, ethanol would enter
the blood. And in half an hour to two hours, the content of ethanol in
blood will be the highest. The more quickly we drink, the sooner we are
drunk. If we drink slowly, we have adequate time to decompose ethanol.
Thirdly, we can drink some yoghurt to neutralize ethanol. Fourthly, we
are suggested to eat green vegetables during drinking. Alcohol does
great harms to our liver. The antioxidants and vitamins are able to
protect our liver. Besides, bean products have similar functions.
Fifthly, animal livers are the best food to avoid being drunk. As we
know, animal livers are rather nutritious. They can provide much
'Vitamin B' (http://www.lookchem.com/), which is needed by people who
drink a lot. Meanwhile, they improve the detoxification ability of our
body.
If we are drunk, there are some methods to make us feel better. For
instance, we can eat some disserts or fruit. Disserts and fruit supply a
large amount of fructose, which would oxidize ethanol. Hot soup, like
fish soup, is also efficient. Vinegar and tea are suggested to people.
Experts point out that tea polyphenol can protect our liver to some
extent, but it would make blood vessels shrink and lead to high blood
pressure as well. Sometimes, we are so drunk that we would vomit. Under
such a circumstance, we can drink a bottle of water to comfort our
stomach.

Don't animal livers contain a lot of cholesterol? I'd rather take vitamin B
pills.

I'm always amazed at people who appear out of nowhere and instead of
starting by participating in a few existing threads, decide to come out
with a treatise. This one happens to be off topic.

What do "Doctors" mean by "drinking too much"? "Active inebriation",
"slight inebriation but unwise to drive a car" or what? I saw a recent
report that claimed that my own drinking, less than either of those, was
harmful.

True.
I happen to think that drinking a glass of water before drinking wine and a
bit more during the meal makes it easier to avoid getting drunk and reduces
the possible hangover.

Hi Mike - as it was written by someone who is apparently more used to a
language other than English I gave them the benefit of the doubt.
Cheers!

Of course that line of the treatise which you retained is something we
wouldn't have otherwise realized. I can't begin to tell you how many
relationships began with six or eight rounds of tequila shooters.
The remainder on the care and feeding of the incipient hang-over are
lessons which should be learned through one's own labratory work. For
example the ingestion of some fish soup when one may be on the verge
of recognizing over-indulgence is something left to the experts.
In vino veritas and some excellent lessons for life as well.

The "do's and don'ts's" part of this article is very informative - my
thanks.
As for the "relationships part", it doesn't apply to me.
The "how to feel better part" - once your ****ed, you just have to
let nature take its course no matter how uncomfortable.
To the tightasses who bitched - STFU if you don't have anything good
to say.
My, but there are a lot of pompous snobs here.
