Gifts when cost is no concern
In case you have some very rich relatives and wish to give them a few
gift hints for you or you wish to impress someone yourself, here are
some of the more lavish offers I have seen this holiday season. If you
thought the Japanese beef mentioned in another thread was expensive,
see the below.
For only US$1,659.99 you can have a bottle of Taittinger Brut La
Française, 15 Liter, Score: 90, Robert Parker. They only have 4
bottles, so you might as well buy all four so a chorus girl, or a
SWMBO who has found out about the chorus girl, can take a soothing
Champagne bath. If you look up the price of a single normal sized
bottle of this wine at the same site, you will find that you are
paying a rather large premium for the 15 Liter bottle in contrast with
the total cost for 15 Liters of the same wine in normal sized bottles.
If you value quality and snob appeal more than quantity,Louis Roederer
1999 Cristal, Brut 3.0 Liters, US$2,999.99 is available. But only one
bottle is in stock.
To top off a holiday meal, you might like a real chocolate truffle.
The center is a 1 ounce fresh black truffle that is covered with
chocolate.

I will let you see the price of a single truffle at the site. For the
same price as one truffle, you could buy a very outstanding bottle of
Burgundy or Bordeaux, although perhaps not the likes of Romanee-Conti
or Petrus.
